About ...
This is me working in my studio!
I embarked on a degree course as a mature student, opting for a career change to achieve a long-held ambition. During this time I was awarded Second Prize in the annual GoodWeave Rug Design Competition 2010. My prize was to have my design made up into a hand-tufted rug, which is now on show and in practical use in my house!
In 2012 I graduated from Loughborough University, achieving a BA (Hons) in Printed Textiles.
Hand making is close to my heart. I love the whole process from initial sketches to finished drawings or the design and preparation for a print. There is something immensely satisfying in seeing an idea through to the end product. I work mainly with pen and ink, watercolour, silkscreen and linocut or a combination of these!
Inspiration comes mainly from nature, usually something which has caught my eye whilst out walking in the countryside. I lived in rural Leicestershire for 12 years and relocated to North Norfolk in March 2016.
I find networks and grids fascinating, along with the ephemeral - shadows and reflections and how they alter our perception of the world around us.
A highlight and interesting challenge in 2015 was a commission for a botanical illustration to be used on the label of Arbikie's Kirsty's gin.
I am a member of Links & Layers and West Norfolk Artists' Association and also a provisional member of the Institute of East Anglian Artists.
